MONDAY 2 OCTOBER SYDNEY – NEW YORK
Today our tour begins. We fly Qantas from Sydney to New York with brief stopover in Los Angeles. We are met on arrival and transferred to The London Hotel by private coach, arriving early pm. Independent dinner at Hotel or in recommended nearby restaurant.
TUESDAY 3 OCTOBER NEW YORK *
Breakfast and tour briefing at our Hotel. Mid morning transfer to Circle Line Cruise for 2 hour boat tour. Welcome lunch at Robert Restaurant at Columbus Circle, in the Museum of Arts & Design. Free afternoon, or 3.00pm free guided tour of the Museum. Optional visit 9/11 Memorial & Museum OR 4.oopm guided walk in Central Park. Free evening OR Live Music at the Knickerbocker Hotel.
WEDNESDAY 4 OCTOBER NEW YORK
Breakfast at Hotel. Mid-morning private tour MoMA,Museum of Modern Art. MoMA coffee shop + design shops are ‘must does’! Free afternoon OR The Frick with Judith. Check NYC Pass options.Fifth Avenue shopping. Food hall below Plaza Hotel. Evening: Gala Opening at Carnegie Hall! BERNSTEIN & GERSHWIN
THURSDAY 5 OCTOBER NEW YORK
Breakfast at Hotel. Mid-morning private tour of the American Wing of Metropolitan Museum of Art. Free afternoon OR optional lunch and browse through Museum of New York, upper 5th Ave. Free Evening – Hello Dolly with Bette Midler!
FRIDAY 6 OCTOBER NEW YORK
Breakfast at Hotel. Suggestion: 9.30 walk on The High Line – lobster chowder at the Chelsea Markets OR 10.00am water taxi down to 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Free afternoon – Katz Deli for lunch, or Russ & Daughters? Evening: The New Yorker Festival opens. We will have organised our tickets prior to leaving home.
SATURDAY 7 OCTOBER NEW YORK
After breakfast we head off to our New Yorker Festival events OR explore different NYC neighbourhoods, take walking tours, go shopping…Book club at the Algonquin Hotel.
SUNDAY 8 OCTOBER NEW YORK
Breakfast at Hotel. More New Yorker Festival events OR lunch at Grand Central, the Waldorf, Gospel singing in Harlem. Optional theatre, Broadway show, ice hockey in the evening. The weekend is FREE except for New Yorker Festival events. Anyone not interested in the Festival might consider a day in Boston, Washington or the Hamptons. Natalie can advise and help with arrangements. ***
MONDAY 9 OCTOBER – COLUMBUS DAY HOLIDAY – NEW YORK
Breakfast at our Hotel. Mid-morning private tour at The Whitney Museum. Free afternoon – shopping at Eileen Fisher, Columbus Circle. Evening: La Boheme!
TUESDAY 10 OCTOBER PHILADELPHIA
Early breakfast at Hotel. Fast train from Penn Station to Philadelphia. Visit Museum of American Independence and Philadelphia Art Museum. Back home around 7.00pm. Free evening OR Live Music at the Knickerbocker, optional.
WEDNESDAY 11 OCTOBER NEW YORK
Breakfast at Hotel. Day of options: Brooklyn Museum and see Judy Chicago’s iconic ‘Dinner Party’ installation OR take the Hudson Line north to Hastings and revisit the Hudson River scenery from the film, ‘The Girl on the Train’; Woodbury Common. Evening: Dizzy’s Jazz Club, show and dinner
THURSDAY 12 OCTOBER NEW YORK – SYDNEY – CHICAGO
Our last day in New York. Breakfast at Hotel. Mid-morning transfer to airport for flight to CHICAGO, or afternoon transfer to JFK for flight HOME.
